HERstory

HERstory is a collection of personal stories shared in one evening by
brilliant  female minds expounding on the issues that shape us as women.
HERstory will be hosted by NOW magazine editor Susan G. Cole with guest
storytellers: writer and biographer Rosemary Sullivan (The Red Shoes:
Margaret Atwood Starting Out), playwright & actor Linda Griffiths (Age of
Arousal/Maggie & Pierre), playwright Hannah Moscovitch (East of Berlin),
director & playwright Nina Lee Aquino (Singkil) and feminist author Julie
White (Sisters and Solidarity).

Pre-show reception begins at 6pm with catering from Belly - catering for
the urban appetite - followed by HERstory then a performance of Hannah
Moscovitch’s The Russian Play/Essay.

Ever wanted to learn how to stir stuff up at City Hall?  How to make
change in your neighbourhood and in your city?

On Saturday, February 2nd, the Toronto Public Space Committee will be
holding a Community Organizing Workshop to teach potential and current
municipal and public-space activists the practical skills involved in
working with City Hall, dealing with the media, organizing supporters and
so on -- the sort of stuff that's invaluable to know if you want to run a
campaign, whether within the TPSC or on your own.

HIDDEN FROM HISTORY: THE CANADIAN HOLOCAUST

Indian Residential Schools and the Truth Commission into Genocide in Canada

ADMISSION: FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Residential school survivors will speak about the book "Hidden from
History" and discuss their ongoing work with the Truth Commission
into Genocide in Canada using clips from their hard-hitting
internationally acclaimed documentary "Unrepentant: Kevin Annett and
Canada's Genocide". The film tells the story of former United Church
minister Kevin Annett's attempts to open up the stories of Aboriginal
residential school survivors to the Church and his subsequent defrocking.
