Eastern Canada Vulnerable to Oil Shortages
New Report Calls for Canada to Set Up Strategic Petroleum Reserves

Canada is currently the most vulnerable country in the industrial world to
short-term oil supply crises, and we need to establish strategic petroleum
reserves to remedy the problem.

Freezing in the Dark: Why Canada Needs Strategic Petroleum Reserves points
out the precariousness of current global oil supplies, especially given
current tensions in the Middle East, and fact that Canada imports close to
1 million barrels of oil per day to supply the needs of central and
eastern provinces.

Temagami's old-growth red and white pine forests.  Submitting your

Planning is underway for the next stage of logging in Temagami. The
Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) has indicated its desire to continue
logging old-growth red and white pine in important wilderness areas. It
has also selected harvest blocks that will threaten aboriginal sacred
sites. Please take a moment to let the MNR know that logging Temagami’s
ancient pine forests is not acceptable. Don’t let the government put a
price on our wilderness!

With an Alberta election imminent, now is the time to send a clear message
to Premier Stelmach: it's totally irresponsible to push ahead with more
development of the tar sands given what we now know of the dire
consequences of global warming. It's time to "Stop the Tar Sands".

asking him to shut down the tar sands and stop polluting the atmosphere.
