WHERE ARE THE CHILDREN? VIGIL FOR 50,000 MISSING ABORIGINAL CHILDREN

DATE: Sunday, March 9th, 2008, 9:30 a.m.
PLACE: Metropolitan United Church, 56 Queen Street East, at Church St.
INFO: www.hiddenfromhistory.org, or 1-888-265-1007

Join us in a rally: "Justice for Canada's First Nations"
Telling the truth about genocide in Canada

50,000 Aboriginal children who attended Indian residential schools across
Canada in the last century did not get out alive. After all, it was "just
another dead Indian." Bring those responsible to justice! 50,000
Aboriginal children need a proper burial! Aboriginal women in Canada
still go missing daily and no one cares! End systemic discrimination and
racism!

The Canadian Government, the British Crown, the Pope, and the Catholic,
Anglican and United Churches were issued a 30 Day Letter of Demand, on
February 8th, 2008, requiring them to identify the burial locations of the
missing children within 30 days. Why haven't they answered? Canadians
need an answer! Survivors deserve an answer! The families of the missing
children demand an answer! End the silence!

The TakeTheTooker bike lane action on Mar. 3 was perfect. The weather held
out, we all had fun, the cops didn't harass us, and we got some good media
coverage. CBC radio did a few good spots. Below you'll find a piece in the
National Post as well as the Torontoist. John Bonnar wrote a good piece
plus posted excellent photos, as did Martin Reis and Graham Bacque.

Please consider writing a letter or calling your Councillor and Mayor
Miller to let them know that you want a bikeway along Bloor and Danforth.
In particular, ask that bike lanes be incorporated into the reconstruction
of Bloor between Avenue Road and Church Street. They're rebuilding this
stretch over the next 2 years, removing a lane of car parking and widening
the sidewalks but NOT adding a bike lane even though there IS space to
accommodate a bike lane!

Call 416 338 0338 today to reach your Councillor. Better yet, write a
letter: http://app.toronto.ca/im/council/councillors.jsp

Thank you!
