Peter Tabuns, MPP, is promoting a New Energy Economy for Ontario.
Peter is the Ontario NDP Critic for Energy and the Environment and is
working to:
* secure real action on climate change;
* push to have the Green Energy Act deliver large scale renewable power;
* promote the creation of new jobs in this sector; and
* stop the investment in nuclear power.
Peter will discuss why the government’s current pace on energy and
environmental issues is too slow; provide you with updates from
Queen’s Park; and provide ideas on what we can do together.
Moreover, Peter wants to hear your ideas and work with you to develop
a new way forward.

Help Stop Canadian Mining in Tibet!
Rally, Call for Divestment from HDI/Continental Minerals

We need your help to stop HDI/Continental Minerals, a Canadian mining
company currently engaged in exploratory drilling in central Tibet.
In recent months, Tibetans and their supporters have sent more than
1,200 faxes to the company's head office, and company executives have
faced protests in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and New York City.
Now is a critical time to intensify pressure on HDI/Continental
Minerals to withdraw from Tibet before its gold and copper?mines
become fully operational. The company's Annual General Meeting takes
place Wednesday, June 24th in Vancouver. Join Tibetans and supporters
in sending a clear message to HDI/Continental Minerals executives and
shareholders that Tibet's land and resources belong to the Tibetan
people.
Tibetans and supporters will do a flash protest in front of the
Toronto Stock Exchange calling on investors to divest from HDI/
Continental Minerals.

the life of Cecilia Rosalia Paiva, who passed away on May 17th, 2009
in the bosom of her family and homeland in Arequipa, Peru.
To honour the memory of Cecilia Rosalia’s activist spirit and work,
Six Nations activist Ben Powless will offer reflections about his
recent trip to her homeland: “Blood and Oil Don’t Mix: A report-
back from the front lines in Peru.” Ardoch Algonquin activist Bob
Lovelace will also speak about “Justice Indeed.”
Cecilia Rosalia was well-known internationally and in Toronto as an
exponent of the sovereignty and culture of Indigenous peoples, and a
fighter for socialism, women’s emancipation, and human dignity
everywhere. Friends of Cecilia Rosalia will share memories of the
time they have spent with her, both in friendship and solidarity work.
