Pedal for the Planet

This summer, people across Canada are joining Pedal for the Planet, a
cross-country relay to call for action on climate change.
The relay started with teams of cyclists leaving Whitehorse (June
26), St. John’s (July 3), Victoria (July 3) and Vancouver (July 4).
Starting from the Atlantic coast, they crossed Newfoundland and Nova
Scotia. In the west, they have crossed British Columbia, Alberta and
Saskatchewan.
Cyclists will converge on Parliament Hill in mid-September, relaying
our expectations for a Copenhagen climate treaty on to Ottawa.
Join Pedal for the Planet in Ontario, Québec and New Brunswick!
We hope you can spread the word about Pedal for the Planet, and join
us at upcoming events and rides (please check our site for updates,
there will be revisions to dates and times as cyclists cross the
country). You can join a ride for a day, a week, or longer – it’s up
to you! Join our events, and cheer on the riders.
Ontario: On August 24, a team of cyclists will leave Windsor,
Ontario, heading to London, Stratford, Kitchener, Guelph, Burlington,
Mississauga, Toronto, Pickering, Oshawa, Belleville, Kingston, Perth

Québec: Starting September 1 in Cabano, people will ride to Rivière-

Medications and the Heat
Some medications make it harder for your body to control its
temperature. Other meds make it easier for your skin to burn.
Psychiatric drugs, anti-parkinson drugs, antidepressants, some
antihistamines, over-the-counter sleeping pills, anti-diarrhea pills
all increase your risk for heat-illness.
If you are taking any medications regularly, ask your doctor, nurse
or pharmacist if you need to be extra careful during hot weather.
If you feel ill, faint, have difficulty breathing or feel disoriented
visit your doctor or nearest hospital right away.
