Dow Unveils Solar Shingles
Dow Chemican has unveiled a residential roof shingle in the form of a
solar panel designed to be integrated into asphalt-tiled roofs. The
solar shingles can offset between 40 percent and 80 percent of a
home’s electricity consumption.

Danish Island Is Energy Self-Sufficient
Samso Is An Ecological Fantasy Land That Is Carbon-Neutral
To harness the wind, of which they have plenty, they built wind
turbines. To harness public good will, they sold shares in those
turbines to the islanders so the machines produce local power and
local profits.
To provide heat, they burn locally grown straw in central plants that
produce super hot water and pump it through underground pipes into
peoples' homes.
It's not only more efficient than running individual furnaces, it's
carbon neutral. The net greenhouse gas emissions from these plants?
Zero.

The Yes Men Strike Again!
Daring hoax exposes limits of instant journalism
Already in the news for its hard-lobbying opposition to U.S. climate-
change legislation, the pro-business Chamber dropped reporters' jaws
with what appeared to be a turning-point announcement - that the
organization now accepts that "without a stable climate, there will
be no business."
The dramatic reversal was conveyed instantly, led by the Reuters
agency, and minutes later it was picked up by the New York Times and
Washington Post Web sites.
But by the time Fox Business News jumped in with real-time analysis,
the real U.S. Chamber of Commerce burst into the news conference,
together with red-faced representatives of the National Press Club,
to debunk the proceedings as a hoax.

Controversy heats up as cities look to incinerators to solve waste woes.
"Dioxins are particularly problematic because they are linked to
certain cancers. They also cross the placenta and have been linked to
birth defects. When you start burning waste with any chlorine
compounds in it, which all plastics contain, you get high dioxin

Domestic and international vendors are aggressively promoting their
“energy-from-waste” incinerator technology to Canadian municipalities
as a way to manage solid waste. Mass-burn incineration or
gasification proposals are now being considered in: Durham Region
(Southern Ontario), Metro Vancouver, City of Ottawa, Port Hope
(Southern Ontario) and Red Deer (Alberta).
Incinerators emit hundreds of pollutants, including carcinogens, to
air, land and water. Health Canada states that the biggest source of
dioxins and furans, which are persistent carcinogens that accumulate
in our bodies and in the environment, is the large scale burning of
municipal and medical waste.

New Study Shows $56 Billion in Hidden Health Damage From Autos
Transportation's effects on public health are rarely discussed by
policy-makers, but they remain very real -- and the National Research

different. It doesn't mean they have a disease.”

Can changing the way we pay for our roads encourage multi-modal

putting a visual price tag on roads, like we do with other public
