Green Together’s Eco-Energy Fair
The wHOLE in your HOME SHOW

Sunday, November 1
1:00-4:00 pm
Wychwood Barns
(Christie, south of St. Clair)

Cold Weather’s coming -- don’t let it into your home!

Most older homes have air leaks -- if yours is typical, it could be like
having a hole in your house the size of an open window.

Now’s the time to stop those leaks and make your house more energy
efficient. Green Together’s Eco-Energy Fair will give you everything you
need -- all in one place on one Sunday afternoon.

- Learn about home energy audits – what they’ll tell you and how to use
them to get government rebates. Meet certified auditors and sign up for an
appointment on the spot.
- Got a project in mind? Meet with experienced contractors used by your
neighbours to discuss your options for insulation, draft-proofing,
energy-efficient furnaces, instantaneous hot water, and more.
- Stop by the displays of solar systems. Talk with experts about the
options and whether one is right for you.
- Overwhelmed by all the choices? Not sure where to begin? Our trained
volunteers can answer your questions and help you get started!

Enter a draw for a free energy audit!

Green Together is a project of Green Neighbours 21 and is supported by
grants from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Ontario Ministry of
the Environment through its Community Go Green Fund. Green Neighbours 21

PATIENT BUILT WALL TOUR

You and anyone you wish to bring along are welcome to attend a historical
tour of the 19th century patient built asylum boundary walls located at
the present-day Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), 1001 Queen
Street West, Toronto.

The purpose of this tour is to remember the contributions of the women and
men who lived, worked, and died in the Toronto Asylum for the Insane, as
is represented by the boundary walls that they built which stand as an
enduring testament to their abilities, and to use the past to challenge
discrimination experienced today by people who have a psychiatric history.

This tour is wheelchair accessible.

Sunday, November 1 from 1 to 3 PM.

CAMH is located at 1001 Queen Street West which is at the intersection of
Queen and Ossington. Meet at 1 PM just outside the FRONT DOORS. If you
arrive late and the tour has already started, go along the length of the
wall (east-south-west) and look for the tour as it proceeds along the
boundary wall.

Please note: since the tour is on the grounds of a mental health facility,
in order to respect people's privacy, we will not be going into the
buildings. The wall tour is entirely outside so please dress
appropriately.

You can also read more about the history of the patient built wall on the
Psychiatric Survivor Archives web site:

Transport Futures 2009:
Road Pricing & Public Acceptance Workshops

Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 - 1:00pm to 5:30pm
Special half-day workshop for NGOs, community groups, activists and students
Metropolitan Hotel, Toronto, Ontario
www.transportfutures.ca

Can changing the way we pay for our roads encourage multi-modal
transportation choices, decrease traffic congestion, improve air quality
and generate dedicated revenues for renewing aging infrastructure?
International research and experience has shown that putting a visual
price tag on roads, like we do with other public utilities, can motivate
more sustainable transport choices while ensuring that road users pay
directly for multi-billion-dollar transportation plans and infrastructure
– including transit, cycling and pedestrian facilities. But how do
governments charge a user fee for roads when mentioning the words “toll”
or “congestion charge” or “tax” raises a multitude of public concerns and
opinions?

Visit www.transportfutures.ca for our exciting program and registration
information.
