Doug Ford’s gov’t is scrapping 758 renewable energy projects across the province, threatening over 6,000 middle class, green jobs, costing billions in lost revenue and trashing our climate targets. We need these renewable energy projects to help create a low-carbon economy that is key for mitigating the effects of climate change.

Tell Premier Ford: Stop the subway upload!

We just learned that Premier Doug Ford is moving ahead with his plan to break apart the TTC and upload the subway. This morning, Ford appointed a special advisor to make recommendations for the subway upload plan. Breaking up the TTC will mean higher fares, less say, and worse service. And with former Infrastructure Ontario staff Michael Lindsay heading up the expert advisory panel, we're even more worried that the subway upload will mean privatization. If Ford really wants to improve public transit, he needs to fund it properly, not break it apart.  Send a message to Ford here:

Citizen Meeting to Counter the Attacks on Toronto by Premier Doug Ford

* Whatever the outcome of the court cases about Council’s restructuring, we need to set a new date for a fair election. This will be a struggle to get the necessary legislation for a new election date from the province.

* Ford has embarked on a process to take control of the Toronto subway system. This leads to all sorts of difficult questions about transit funding and privatization.

* The government has put safe injection sites on hold, threatening the lives of people.

* Welfare rates will be raised 1.5 per cent this year, about half the rate of inflation, a major problem for Toronto where so many residents are on welfare.

This meeting is organized by former mayor John Sewell and friends.
