☢ Did you know: Ontario is moving forward with rebuilding 10 of our aging nuclear reactors at very high cost (16.5 cents/kWh) while Quebec is offering us renewable water power at less than one-third the cost (5 cents/kWh). Please sign the petition.

The World

Today is the 40th anniversary of the partial meltdown of reactor 2 at Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania, USA.

☢ Residents around TMI exposed to far more radiation than officials claimed Despite the evidence in human blood, lived experience of the exposed, recognition of faulty monitors, and increases of cancers, the constant false narrative that TMI caused no harm remains.

☢ Too cheap to meter now needs a bailout? Forty years since the nuclear accident, Three Mile Island has gotten $billions in bailouts and needs to close.

☢ Public will never know truth behind Three Mile Island "If you look at the holy trinity of nuclear accidents, Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and Fukushima, we can probably pretty much tell you when they started. The reality is there is no ending." More here.

☢ Fukushima, Chernobyl, And Three Mile Island Prove Why Nuclear Power Will Never Be Inherently Safe People have died, each disaster has been worse than the one before it, and once pristine farmland and entire cities will never be habitable again.

☢ Nuclear industry pushing for fewer inspections at plants The US nuclear power industry is pushing the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to cut back on inspections at nuclear power plants and throttle back what it tells the public about plant problems. The agency, whose board is dominated by Trump appointees, is listening.

☢ Arnie Gundersen and Maggie Gundersen - Nuclear is not an option Podcast with nuclear whistle blowers on Fukushima, Santa Anna, Three Mile Island, Politics, Regulators and the Fall-OutOntario

☢ Ontario Slashes Energy Efficiency Programs, Delays Promise to Cut Hydro Rates Ontario’s conservation programs have the lowest costs of any option for meeting our energy needs—just 1.7¢ per kilowatt-hour. Eliminating these programs and the energy savings they generate will just require greater reliance on high-cost nuclear plants, where the cost per kilowatt-hour will hit 16.5¢ by 2025. More here.

☼ Conservation would fight climate change while saving Ontarians billions Ontario's Environmental Commissioner released this report just 1 week after the Ford Goverment slashed conservation programs.Renewables

☼ Wind and Solar Plants Beat Out Majority of US Coal Plants on Cost It would be cheaper to build local wind and solar projects than continuing to operate 74 percent of U.S. coal plants.Take Action!

☢ Please contact Premier Ford and ask him to buy low-cost Quebec water power and cancel the high-cost Darlington Re-Build Project. Text his cell phone # is 416-805-2156 or email him at Doug.Ford at pc.ola.org. Click here to email him now. And please sign and share the petition here.

☢ Volunteers needed: We're leafletting in Doug Ford's hood of Etobicoke. Can you join the group blitzes -- or go out on your own in Etobicoke or in your own hood anywhere in ON? If so, please contact angela at cleanairalliance.org

☢ Petition to Premier Ford for the production of EVs Premier Ford must develop a strategy to ensure that Ontario rapidly becomes a world leader in the production and use of EVs (electric vehicles) and other low-carbon technologies.

☢ Canadian Government must protect our rivers from radioactive waste Please sign the petition to protect the Ottawa and Winnipeg Rivers currently threatened by three Canadian Nuclear Laboratories’ (CNL’s) nuclear waste dump proposals.Events
