The Right Livelihood Award recognizes the actions of brave visionaries. It has been called the "alternative Nobel prize". One of the 4 Laureates this year is Canada's amazing Freya Huson of Wet'suwet'en Nation, a hereditary chief, longtime advocate for Indigenous sovereignty, and leader in the fight to stop Coastal GasLink and a coordinator of the Unist'ot'en camp.

Under ‘Anuc niwh’it’en (Wet’suwet’en law) all five clans of the Wet’suwet’en have unanimously opposed all pipeline proposals and have not provided free, prior, and informed consent to Coastal Gaslink/ TransCanada to do work on Wet’suwet’en lands.
